Construction Employers Association to Honor the People Who Build Cleveland

Body

We are days away!  It's that time when we honor the people who build Cleveland! Our Annual Building Excellence Awards will take place Thursday, August 11 at Windows on the River, 2000 Sycamore Street in Cleveland.

The event begins at 5 p.m with a cocktail-networking hour, awards ceremony from 6 to 7 p.m. and dinner/cocktail-networking to follow. Tickets are $50 and available for purchase through the website www.clevelandcraftsmanship.com.

The evening is about honoring the amazing men and women who construct our city skyline and other great building projects across Greater Cleveland. The awards recognize the excellent work of local tradesmen and tradeswomen in addition to the contractors and companies who employ them.

The awards categories include New construction over $25 million, New construction between $10 and $25 million, new construction under $10 million, renovation construction over $10 million and renovation construction under $10 million completed between Jan. 1, 2020 and Dec. 31, 2021. Awards go to Apprentice of the Year, Craftsmanship Award, and Building Excellence Award honorees.

The Building Excellence and Craftsmanship Awards focus on celebrating those in union construction and the invested workforce. "The talented professionals who build Greater Cleveland – the apprentices at the beginning of their careers, the skilled trades journeypersons, and the contractors employing them – take immense pride in their work. Taking time to recognize achievements amidst friends and family is an important way we continue to grow the industry.” said Tim Linville.

The nominations are evaluated by a team of 3 to 5 panel of architects with experience evaluating projects in the particular categories. The uniqueness of the craftsman’s work, precision and attention to detail, and difficulty of the work are among the considered criteria. Winners are based on the judging team's average score.

CEA is proud of the members being recognized for their achievements, including: The Albert M. Higley Company, Marous Brothers, Turner Construction, The Great Lakes Construction Company, Warren Roofing & Insulating Co. and Gilbane Building Company.

Presenting sponsors are Construction Employers Association, Cleveland Building & Construction Trades Council, Mechanical and Plumbing Industry Council, National Electrical Contractors Association - Cleveland Chapter, Northern Ohio Painting & Taping Contractors Association, and Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning National Association - Cleveland Chapter.
