How many years have you worked in the industry?

10

Who or what has been the most influential in your career journey?

I have worked with some amazing engineers and superintendents over the years that have shown me that construction can be an amazing career.

What was your first job in construction and how did it shape your career path?

My first job in construction was a superintending intern at the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center. It was the most fun summer ever! That summer taught me that construction is fast paced and always changing, which I found very enjoyable and knew from day 1 that I wanted a career that could be this exciting.

What is a misconception that you think people still have about women in construction?

I often find that when I walk onto the jobsite people ask me if I am the admin or the accountant, and they are blown away when I tell them I have an engineering degree and have been working in construction for 10 years. I think too often people are quick to make assumptions, which is crazy in 2026!

What strengths do you think women bring to the construction industry?

Women are excellent planners and communicators, and I often find that a woman's support or guidance on an issue often brings a fresh perspective!

What advice would you give other women that are considering or new to the construction industry?

Don't let anyone bring you down, or tell you that you're not capable of doing all the same roles as a man in the industry. Know your role and know it well, be engaged and never ashamed to ask questions and learn, not only from your superiors, but from the crews in the field as well! Find ways to network and meet other women, and share your experiences and learn from theirs.

What do you like to do when you're not on the job?

When I am not at work I like to travel, hike, and find local coffee shops to try!
