Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 5 recently made an investment in themselves they hope will improve member communication, member access and even boost revenue for the Cleveland area Local in the form of a new union hall.

In 2010, then BAC Local 5 Business Agent and current Cleveland Building and Construction Trades Council Executive Secretary Dave Wondolowski proposed and set up a building fund with the plan to build or purchase a new building to serve as the Union Hall.

“For many years we scraped by in buildings that were in disrepair. This union is 150 years old. Its members deserve to be headquartered in a building they can take pride in,” said Wondolowski. “I am proud to have started the effort.”

Local 5 President Eric Puente said the membership has been impressed by the new union hall. Since Gov. DeWine has begun to reduce pandemic-related restrictions, Local 5 has been able to allow members into the building for the past three union meetings.

The new hall is located in Valley View off of Sweet Valley Drive, in an office park near the Cleveland Electrical JATC.
